Citizens and Immigration Canada (CIC) began using a new online system in January 2015 to process requests for permanent residence under certain financial programs. This new system is called “Express Entry.”
The goal of the Express Entry system is to speed up the time it takes to process applications so that CIC can find the best immigrants.
If you want to apply for permanent residence through one of these programs:
Federal Skilled Worker Program
This program is looking for people with specific types of work experience and skills. To apply for this program, you must also plan to live somewhere other than Quebec.
Canadian experience class
This program is looking for people who have worked legally in Canada and have the right skills and work experience.
Federal Skilled Trades
This program is looking for people who have worked in the trade in question. Applicants for this program must also plan to live outside the US
Especially some provincial nominee programs
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) has different streams and requirements for each province and territory. If you are selected through one of these programs, you can use the Express Entry system to speed up the process of handling your file.
You can use the new system for faster entry.
With the Express Entry system, the applicant has to prepare an electronic profile for himself and send it to the CIC. ImmigCanada will guide you through the process and help you submit the best profile for you.
Then, CIC compares your profile with other applicants and ranks them. Your grade and ranking will depend on the following:
Language skills (English and/or French), education, work experience and other factors that have been shown to help newcomers to Canada better.
Only people with the best profiles will be asked to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
Note: Filling out an online Express Entry profile or entering the pool does not guarantee that you will receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence.
The government aims to process most requests for permanent residence in less than six months. (This time period begins when they receive a complete application and ends when they make a final decision on your application for permanent residence.)
If your profile is one of the best and you are invited to apply for permanent residence, ImmigCanada will help you prepare and send the application step by step to CIC.
