Salary: $28.15 an hour
Purpose:
Support Services provides a wide range of professionally managed campus services and facilities to enhance the student experience and support the mission, vision and priorities of York University. To safely transport community members on and off campus. and using large passenger buses in an efficient manner.
Education:
A valid Ontario Class ‘C’ license and Air Brakes Certificate (‘Z’ endorsement) in good standing. Must have good driving record and ability to operate vehicles in a safe manner.
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience (as defined within the last 5 years) driving large passenger buses is required. One (1) year recent experience in customer service
Skills:
Must demonstrate ability to speak, read, write and understand English by providing excellent customer service by receiving and conveying messages via in-vehicle two-way radios, greeting customers, communicating important information to passengers, and answering inquiries. . Must be able to operate a mobile device to respond to calls and confirm passenger bookings. Respects diversity and promotes inclusion in the workplace, contributing to an inclusive and diverse team-oriented, positive work environment. Recognizes diverse abilities and adapts content, tone, medium and style to audiences. Committed to continuous learning and developing expertise in diversity, inclusion and cultural competence.

Notes: Ability to lift and load heavy materials Basic French language skills desirable. Successful candidates must satisfactorily complete all University training sessions. The successful applicant for this position will be required to work shifts as assigned. Please note: The candidate for this position must have a valid driver’s license and produce a satisfactory driving record and vulnerable sector check. Satisfactory to the University prior to commencement of employment.
