As a care worker or support worker in Canada, you have a very important role in providing support, care and assistance to people who need help in their daily lives. Whether you work in a care home, community center or in a person’s home, your role is vital in improving the quality of life of those you support.

Character Summary:

• Must be available on alternate weekends.
• Responsible for working with people who are vulnerable in different ways. The types of vulnerability (which is certain in most cases) may differ from patient to patient.
• To provide the service adults with learning disabilities need by adopting a person-centred approach that fosters self-awareness, personal growth and gives each individual a strong voice in decision-making and lifestyle choices.

Major Responsibilities, Functions & Duties

• Support people with decision-making and lifestyle choices, enabling them to take control of their own lives and increase independence.
• Ensure that all personal care tasks are carried out according to the individual’s needs, wishes and preferences.
• Support people to play an active role in society by accessing local facilities and wider community resources in a spirit of social inclusion.
• Support people to develop and expand social networks and friendships.
• To support people through the transition process.
• Act as a keyworker/cokeyworker to coordinate and develop support for the individual, including health action plans and person-centered plans.
• Work with individuals to promote healthy lifestyles by connecting with local health care professionals.
• Work in partnership with care managers and other professionals to enhance people’s quality of life.
• Ensure the safety of the building and the safety of the people living in the home.
• Develop positive relationships with family and caregivers.

Salary: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
